Prof. Dr. Ellen Anckaert

Ellen Anckaert graduated at the VUB as an MD in 1995. She became a medical specialist in clinical biology in 2002. In 2004 she joined the Follicle Biology research laboratory at VUB, where she earned her PhD degree in Medical sciences. She currently is the Head of Follicle Biology Research Laboratory at VUB and senior Medical director of the Laboratory of Hormonology at the UZ Brussel university hospital. She is also Professor at VUB Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, teaching ‘Reproductive endocrinology’ and ‘Female reproductive biology’. Her work in FOBI is mainly focused on optimizing culture systems for in vitro oocyte growth and maturation, and epigenetic safety testing of these systems. Hypotheses are tested in established mouse models and translation to human is done in close collaboration with BrusselsIVF, the fertility clinic of the University hospital UZ Brusse
