Dr. Nazli Akin

Nazli earned her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Koç University, Turkey, in 2015, followed by a Master's degree in Reproductive Biology in 2017 at the same institution. During her master’s, she focused on reproductive endocrinology and fertility preservation studies under Prof. Dr. Ozgur Oktem's guidance. In 2017, she joined the FOBI lab at VUB to pursue a PhD focusing on oocyte in vitro maturation (IVM), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ellen Anckaert and Prof. Dr. Johan Smitz. Since completing her PhD in 2023, Nazli has continued her research on IVM as a postdoctoral researcher at the same lab. Her research aims to enhance IVM culture media composition while optimizing culture conditions to improve the reproductive outcomes of IVM.
