Aimilia Zisiadi
Optimization of three-dimensional (3D) in vitro follicle culture methods in mouse to improve oocyte developmental competence
PhD students
Biography
Aimilia Zisiadi is a biology graduate and has obtained an integrated Master's degree from the Department of Biological Applications and Technology of Ioannina, Greece (2019). For her Master’s thesis, she worked on isolating and characterizing granulosa cells from the follicular fluid of women undergoing assisted reproduction to better understand the mechanisms behind folliculogenesis and oocyte development. In 2020 she started her PhD at the follicle biology (FOBI) lab of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel under the supervision of Professor Ellen Anckaert. She is currently using the mouse model to research in vitro follicle culture as a fertility preservation alternative for women and children with cancer and her project is part of the European Oocyte Biology Research Innovation Training Network (EUROVA) under the Marie Skłodowska Curie actions.
